In lue of the sweeping monumental re-election of President Barack Obama, the Brothers of the Zeta Pi Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Incorporated embarked on yet another roadtrip to celebrate this momentous occasion in Washington D.C. The Zeta Pi Chapter no stranger to the Northern region among many things used this time to visit with ZP alum  to fraternize on days of old.  From scouring the Lincoln Monument to visiting the newly built Martin Luther King Memorial site, the Bruhs saw it all and came back with plenty of stories.

 

 

 

On the evening of February 12th, the Brothers of the Zeta Pi Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. and the Sisters of the Zeta Psi Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. celebrated the legacy of Dr. Hamilton E. Holmes and Mrs. Charlayne Hunter Gault. Moderated by UGA’s Head of Office of International Diversity and Associate Dean of Franklin College of Arts and Sciences, Dr. Michelle Cook, the event investigated the state of Black UGA today to discover whether we are truly upholding the legacy of those before us.  The audience was enlightened and captivated by the expertise and vivid personal accounts of Dr. Robert Pratt, History Professor and Expert on UGA desegregation and Rev. Archibald Killian, of whom Hamilton Holmes resided with while a student at UGA. The night was filled with a musical performance, video presentation, as well as panel and audience discussion. Truly a night to remember.

Larry Leroy Golden was initiated Into the Zeta Pi Chapter in the Spring Of 1976, with eleven other esteemed men, forever known as the “Tenacious Twelve.” Brother Golden displayed a promising future in light of his outstanding academic and professional accomplishments during his short time in the House Of Alpha. However, Brother Golden’s life was suddenly cut short due to medical complications during his pursuit of scholarship. Moreover, Brother Golden was the first Zeta Pi Brother to pass away. To immortalize him and the ideals, which he exemplified, the Zeta Pi Chapter Of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated Annually awards a scholarship in his memory to one outstanding freshman male student leader.
